Ken Stuckenschneider, principal designer of Stuckenschneider Decoration & Design, founded in 2006, specializes in gracefully conceived interiors personalized to reflect the character of the home and homeowners. Stuckenschneider’s design philosophy is rooted in the belief that a home should combine timeless casual elegance with modern comfort that’s harmonious with one’s lifestyle and embraces everyday living and functionality. His classic bespoke interior design utilizes the world’s finest architects, artists and craftsmen to create custom furniture, carpets, fabrics and accessories for unique and inviting spaces.

Stuckenschneider earned his Masters of Interior Design at Pratt Institute in New York after graduating from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in art history. Prior to graduate school, he studied and lived in England and Italy including time in London learning the trade at Laura Ashley. In New York, he joined Robert A.M. Stern Architects as the head of their interior design department managing 20 designers with projects around the globe. Specializing in historically-inspired traditional architecture and design, Stuckenschneider’s projects included residential, academic and commercial interiors from a Seaside beachfront property, featured on the cover of Architectural Digest in April, 2008, to the award-winning renovation of the famous McKim, Mead & White Baker Library at Harvard Business School. Other projects at Stern included the luxury apartment building 15 Central Park West, Hickey Freeman’s Fifth Avenue flagship store and the main public library in Columbus, Georgia. His residential projects include homes, townhouses and apartments in New York, Boston, East Hampton, Bel Air, Seaside, Sugarloaf, Bar Harbour, Palm Beach, Dallas, St. Louis, London, Venice, Aspen, Toronto, Montréal, Hong Kong and Barbados.

Stuckenschneider, a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), continues to pursue his love of art. Formerly a docent at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Stuckenschneider is now a docent at the St. Louis Art Museum where he serves on the board of docents. He lives with his family, horse and golden retriever in St. Louis, not far from his family’s century-old farm in central Missouri. His love of travel takes him around the globe in search of antiques, art, artifacts and inspiration for his international clientele.
